Subject: (Direct Referral) communication from the City Administrator presenting a recommendation to amend the 2013 Budget. (Res. No. 13-0177)
Recommendation of the Committee of the Whole on 04-10-2013: that an Amendment to the 2013 Adopted Budget implementing certain staff reductions and furloughs be adopted, to wit:
That three furlough days off during calendar year 2013 be implemented for non-essential City of Racine personnel; (It is anticipated that each furlough day will generate approximately $100,000 in savings.)
Budget adjustments to reflect eliminated positions are as follows:
That the Building Inspection Department be reorganized, resulting in the elimination of one inspector position;
That the subsidy to the Racine Public Library be reduced in an amount equal to two employee positions;
That three Private/Firefighter positions in the Racine Fire Department not be filled during 2013;
And that the following positions be eliminated: one Customer Service Representative position in the Racine Police Department, three Truck Driver positions and one Secretary II position in the Department of Public Works, three Equipment Operator positions in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services, and one Customer Service Specialist position in the Finance Department.
