Title: Subject: Communication from a representative of the Splash and Dash Polar Bear Plunge requesting permission to close Hubbard Street form Michigan Boulevard to Chatham Street on January 1, 2006 in connection with their event. Recommendation: The owner of Michigan’s Pub be granted permission to close Hubbard Street from Michigan Boulevard to Chatham Street, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2006, in conjunction with the Splash and Dash Polar Bear Plunge, with the following stipulations: a. A hold harmless agreement be executed; b. A liability insurance certificate be filed prior to this event; c. Any overtime costs incurred by any City department be charged to the sponsor; d. The sponsor shall notify all abutting property owners seventy-two (72) hours in advance of this event; e. No alcoholic beverages will be sold and/or dispensed within the street right-of-way; f. In the event of snow, the sponsor shall remove all barricades from the street. g...

Subject: Communication from a representative of the Splash and Dash Polar Bear Plunge requesting permission to close Hubbard Street form Michigan Boulevard to Chatham Street on January 1, 2006 in connection with their event.

 

Recommendation: The owner of Michigan’s Pub be granted permission to close Hubbard Street from Michigan Boulevard to Chatham Street, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2006, in conjunction with the Splash and Dash Polar Bear Plunge, with the following stipulations:

a.                     A hold harmless agreement be executed;

b.  A liability insurance certificate be filed prior to this event;

c.  Any overtime costs incurred by any City department be charged to the sponsor;

d.  The sponsor shall notify all abutting property owners seventy-two (72) hours in                     advance of this event;                     

e.  No alcoholic beverages will be sold and/or dispensed within the street right-of-way;

f.  In the event of snow, the sponsor shall remove all barricades from the street.

g.  The sponsor shall pay a $250.00 special event fee.

Further recommends that the Commissioner of Public Works and Chief of Police provide limited assistance, in the interest of safety, to implement this event.

 

Fiscal Note: There will be nomical costs to various City departments, on a regular shift basis, to assist in implementing this event.
