Title
Certification of the Redevelopment Plan for Racine Steel Castings
Whereas, on December 6, 2006 the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Racine certified the Redevelopment Plan for the Racine Steel Castings Industrial Area to the Common Council; and
Whereas, section 66.1333 (6) (e), Wisconsin Statutes, provides that, following certification of a redevelopment plan to the Common Council, the Council "shall
direct that no new construction be permitted
including substantial remodeling or conversion or rebuilding, enlargement, or extension or major structural improvements on existing buildings..." unless authorized by the Common Council.
Resolved, that the Common Council adopts the restrictions provided for in Section 66.1333 (6) (e), Wisconsin Statutes, for the land and buildings within the Racine Steel Castings Industrial Area.
Further resolved, that any party seeking a building permit for a property within the Racine Steel Castings Industrial Area shall first comply with the provisions of Chapter 114, Article III ("Conditional Uses"), Division 2 of the Municipal Code as the procedure for requesting Common Council authorization for new construction, alterations or improvements to property within the area.
Fiscal Note: The control of development in the redevelopment area will be handled by the existing conditional use permit process.
