Title: Subject: (Direct Referral) Communication from the Racine County Executive Safety Committee requesting permission to place a crosswalk yield sign on the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue. (Res. No. 15-0275) Recommendation of the Traffic Commission on 06-15-15: Recommends that the request to place a crosswalk yield sign on the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue be approved. Further recommends that Racine County be permitted to place the sign from 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on business days, subject to the following conditions: 1. Racine County is responsible for procuring the movable "yield-to-pedestrian within crosswalk" sign and maintaining it. 2. The sign meets all the requirements of the latest edition of the FHWA (Federal Highway Association) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). 3. The sign is placed on the centerline of the roadway on Wisconsin Avenue, in the painted crosswalk mid-block between Seventh Street and Eighth Street, as to not obstruct vehicular traffic. 4. The ...

Recommendation of the Traffic Commission on 06-15-15: Recommends that the request to place a crosswalk yield sign on the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue be approved.

 

Further recommends that Racine County be permitted to place the sign from 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on business days, subject to the following conditions:

 

1.  Racine County is responsible for procuring the movable "yield-to-pedestrian within crosswalk" sign and maintaining it.

2.  The sign meets all the requirements of the latest edition of the FHWA (Federal Highway Association) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

3.  The sign is placed on the centerline of the roadway on Wisconsin Avenue, in the painted crosswalk mid-block between Seventh Street and Eighth Street, as to not obstruct vehicular traffic.

4.  The sign will be removed by Racine County during snow & ice operations, and as directed by the Commissioner of Public Works for street maintenance or construction.

5.  Racine County enters into a hold harmless agreement with the City of Racine for placement of movable "yield-to-pedestrian within crosswalk" sign in City right-of-way.
