Title: Subject: Communication from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation regarding the rerouting of STH 32. Recommendation: The Commissioner of Public Works be authorized and directed to take the necessary steps to facilitate the transfer of STH 32 from Goold Street between Douglas Avenue and Main Street; and Main Street between Goold Street and Hamilton Street; to Douglas Avenue between Goold Street and Hamilton Street; and Hamilton Street between Douglas Avenue and Main Street, with the understanding that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and City of Racine Department of Public Works will evaluate options to improve two (2) intersections, which include: A. Albert Street, Douglas Avenue, Barker Street and Superior Street; and B. Kewaunee Street, LaSalle Street and Douglas Avenue. The preferred alternative which best serves the Southeast Wisconsin Transportation System, City of Racine and the traveling public will be chosen to allow this portion of roadway to meeting State C...

Recommendation: The Commissioner of Public Works be authorized and directed to take the necessary steps to facilitate the transfer of STH 32 from Goold Street between Douglas Avenue and Main Street; and Main Street between Goold Street and Hamilton Street; to Douglas Avenue between Goold Street and Hamilton Street; and Hamilton Street between Douglas Avenue and Main Street, with the understanding that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and City of Racine Department of Public Works will evaluate options to improve two (2) intersections, which include:

Fiscal Note: Not applicable at this time. However, by making this portion of roadway meet State Connecting Highway system standards, State funds will pay approximately 75% of the cost to reconstruct the Douglas Avenue corridor.
