Subject: (Direct Referral) Communication from the City Attorney requesting permission to negotiate and acquire various property rights for the installation and future maintenance of a piece of mosaic art on the exterior wall of non-city owned buildings in the Uptown Area on Washington Avenue, said piece(s) of art to be created by Isaiah Zagar, and other persons acting under his direction. Further, requesting that the City assumes liability for use of non-city owned buildings for the temporary storage of art materials and equipment, and scaffolding equipment, and for a public relations presentation regarding the art project.
Further, request that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to sign all contracts negotiated by the City Attorney.
Recommendation of the Finance and Personnel Committee on 05-27-08: Permission be granted to the City Attorney to negotiate and acquire various property rights for the installation and future maintenance for a piece of mosaic art on the exterior wall of non-city owned buildings in the Uptown Area on Washington Avenue, and that liability waivers are also authorized.
