Title: Subject: October 2022 Hiring Report Rashanda Cainion introduced guest Anita Tobias, City of Racine Human Resource Generalist for Public Safety, and then reviewed the October 2022 hiring report. Lassiter-Ayers asked the following questions about the racial makeup of fire fighter positions with the academy: Were their people of color? If so, how many? Were any of the people of color hired? Tobias advised that there were three black males in the last class, but none of them were hired. Lassiter-Ayers then asked about the hiring process and where the candidates failed, and it was reported that they did not pass the panel interview. Lassiter-Ayers commented that this was concerning as well as problematic, and asked what the panel makeup was. Cainion advised she would bring the information to the December meeting.
