Subject: (Direct Referral) Review of applications for 2016 CDBG Funding. (Res No. 0187-16)
Staff Recommendation: To allocate the funds to organizations and city departments, as indicated on the attached table, permitting the Mayor and City Clerk be authorization to enter into contracts with the sub-recipients, pursuant to the allocation and federal regulations.
Frasher moved and Shakoor seconded an amendment to the budget at presented by staff to remove $25,000 of Microenterprise Program funding to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and give $25,000 of Microenterprise Program to Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation. The motion passed by a show of hands.
Fiscal Note: This action allocates $1,254,043.11 in 2016 Community Development Block Grant funds per the 2016 Annual Plan including administrative expenses, $8,523.51 in unspent CDBG funds for public service activities and $50,000 in unspent CDBG funds for public infrastructure actitivies.
Recommendation of the Community Development Committee on
5-5-16: That the recommended allocation, as amended, of the 2016
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) be approved; and, that the appropriate city officials be authorized and directed to execute and submit to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development the documents required to secure the grants; and that the appropriate city officials be
authorized to execute third-party contracts with the agencies approvedfor the use of the funds.
