Title: Permission for City of Racine to submit letter supporting 2008 Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative Resolved, that the City of Racine agree to participate in a joint application with the State of Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence in an application entitled Wisconsin Diesel Emission and Fuel Reduction Initiative which will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency's Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative Program. Further resolved, that the Commissioner of Public Works/City Engineer be authorized and directed to submit a letter of support to provide the necessary documents regarding the City's fleet and fuel usage. Fiscal Note: The purpose of this program is to encourage implementation of biodiesel fuel, idle emission technology, and/or diesel emission reduction equipment. At this time it is anticipated that the grant will cover the additional cost of purchasing biodiesel fuels.
