The Common Council of the City of Racine do ordain as follows: Part 1: Sec. 2-402(b) of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows: “(b) Supervision of department; deputy chiefs. The chief of police shall have general supervision over the police department and be responsible for the efficiency thereof. To repeal and recreate Sec. 2-402(b) of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine, Wisconsin relating to Chief of Police - Supervision of department.

 

The Common Council of the City of Racine do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1:

 

Sec. 2-402(b) of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows:

 

“(b)  Supervision of department; deputy chiefs.

The chief of police shall have general supervision over the police department and be responsible for the efficiency thereof.  In the event of a temporary absence of the chief of police, his duties shall be performed by the deputy chief of police designated by the chief of police, and in the event of the disability, death or suspension of the chief of police, his duties shall be performed by the deputy chief of police of the patrol division.”

 

Part 2:

 

Sec. 2-402(d) of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine is hereby amended by deleting the word "oftener" on the second line and inserting the words "more often" in its place.

 

Part 3:

 

This ordinance shall take effect upon passage and the day after publication.
