Subject: Communication from the Commissioner of Public Works/City Engineer submitting Amendment No. 1 to the Janitorial Service Contract.
Recommendation of the Public Works and Services Committee on 5-8-07 : The City of Racine adopt and implement the Green Seal Environmental Standards GS-37 and GS-42 for all departmental purchases and contractual services including private firms managing city facilities.
Further recommends that Amendment No. 1 to the janitorial services contract for the Building Complex Division be approved in the amount of $8,250.00.
Further recommends that this item be referred to the Finance and Personnel Committee to appropriate the necessary funding.
Fiscal Note: The Green Seal Standard provides specifications for the provision of janitorial cleaning products which meet minimum environmental requirements. There are insufficient funds in the existing 2007 budget for the implementation of this standard for the Building Complex Division.
Recommendation of the Finance & Personnel Committee on 05-21-07: That the beginning of 2008 and/or when each contract is renewed, the City implement the Green Seal Environmental Standards GS-37 and GS-42 for all departmental purchases and contractual services including private firms managing city facilities.
Fiscal Note: The additional cost will be considered in the 2008 budget.
