Subject: Communication from the Racine Zoological Society requesting exclusive use of Lakeview Park for competitors and other needs and the blocking of traffic from Michigan Boulevard beginning at Lakeview Park heading north to Goold Street and Goold Street west to Main Street.
Referred to Traffic Commission and to the Board of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services.
Traffic Commission 3-20-06 Recommendation: This communication be referred to the Public Works and Services Committee.

Recommendation of the Public Works and Services (4-18-06): The Racine Zoological Society be granted permission to close Goold Street from Main Street to Michigan Boulevard and Michigan Boulevard from Goold Street to Yout Street, from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006, to 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2006, in conjunction with the Zoo-B-que event, with the following stipulations:
A. A hold harmless agreement be executed;
B. A liability insurance certificate be filed prior to this event;
C. Any overtime costs incurred by any City department be charged to the sponsor;
D. The sponsor shall notify all abutting property owners seventy-two (72) hours in advance of this event;
E. No alcoholic beverages will be sold and/or dispensed within the street right-of-way;
F. The sponsor shall pay a $350.00 special event fee.
Further recommends that the Commissioner of Public Works/City Engineer and Chief of Police provide limited assistance, in the interest of safety, to implement this event.
Fiscal Note: There will be nominal costs to various City departments, on a regular shift basis, to assist in implementing this event.
