Recommendation:
 
12/04/2006 - Discussion held about the value of Civil War and WWI Cannons. Sharon wants to bring the cannon that used to be at monument square to be set at the WWII Pavilion.

01/15/2007 - Supervisor Bedard reported that the cannon appraisal information and implementation had gone to Sam Aiello and would be handled through his office.
 
Chairperson Baldukas said that all cannons belonging to the City of Racine should be appraised and documented and that Wayne Stark, who works with the Federal government, would be willing to do appraisals and documentation free of charge.
 
Questions about where other cannons belonging to the city were and where they might best be placed were discussed. The issue was then deferred to the February meeting.
 
Recommendation:
 
02/19/2007 - Cannons - Chairperson Baldukas gave a short report on her research into the methods of obtaining the appraisal of the cannons. Discussion followed on the feasibility of having the cannons appraised and insured.
 
Further discussion on the present locations of the various cannons and their present and future uses. Alderman Weidner moved that up to $5,000.00 be allocated from the cemetery maintenance fund to pay for the appraisal of the cannons and that a designee of the Cemetery Board work with the city staff to locate an appraiser who physically come to Racine to do the job. Motion passed 3-1 with Dale Slaasted voting no.
