An ordinance to repeal and recreate Section 70-37. - Composition; appointments; terms in Chapter 70, Article II. - Administration of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine, Wisconsin regarding the appointment of Board of Parks Commissioners.

 

The Common Council of the City of Racine, Wisconsin do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1: To repeal and recreate Section 70-37. - Composition; appointments; terms as follows:

 

“The board of parks, recreation and cultural services commissioners shall consist of 11 members who are residents of the city, two of whom shall be members of the common council, with one of whom shall be a member of the county board of supervisors; and one of whom shall be a member of the board of the unified school district. The members of the board shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the common council. Appointments shall be made on the third Tuesday in April. Appointments of the elected officials specified in this section shall be for a term of one year and all other terms shall be three years. Members of the board shall receive no compensation for their services.”

 

Part 2: This ordinance shall take effect upon passage by a majority vote of the members-elect of the City Common Council and publication or posting as required by law.
