Subject: (Direct Referral) Communication from the Assistant Commissioner of Public Works/City Engineer wishing to discuss changes to Section 94-311, Operation of Heavy Vehicles; Designation of Heavy Traffic Routes.
Recommendation of the Traffic Commission on 04-20-15: Recommends that the request to modify Section 94-311, Operation of Heavy Vehicles, Designation of Heavy Traffic Routes, for Douglas Avenue, Hamilton Street, Valley Drive and 13th Street be approved.
Further recommends that the request to remove Valley Drive and 13th Street west to southbound, Douglas Avenue from Goold Street to Hamilton Street, and Hamilton Street from Douglas Avenue to N. Main Street, from the truck and heavy traffic routes be granted.
Further recommends that Section 94-311 relating to "Operation of heavy vehicles; designation of heavy traffic routes", be amended to delete:
1. Valley Drive from Washington Avenue to 13th Street.
2. 13th Street from Valley Drive to S. Memorial Drive.
3. Douglas Avenue from Goold Street to State Street.
4. Hamilton Street from Douglas Avenue to Michigan Boulevard.
Further recommends that Section 94-311 relating to "Operation of heavy vehicles; designation of heavy traffic routes", be amended to include:
1. Valley Drive from Washington Avenue to 13th Street, northbound only.
2. 13th Street from Valley Drive to S. Memorial Drive, eastbound only.
3. Douglas Avenue from Hamilton Street to State Street.
4. Hamilton Street from N. Main Street to Michigan Boulevard.
Fiscal Note: There will be a nominal cost to remove signs at these locations.
