Res.08-0896 A Sister City InternationalResolutionSister City International Whereas, the City of Racine participates in the Sister City program administered by Sister Cities International for the purpose of creating and maintaining friendship and understanding between countries through direct personal contact; and Whereas, the Mayor and members of Racine's Sisters City Committee traveled to the City of Zapotlanejo, Mexico in March of 2008, and will host representatives of the City of Zapotlanejo, Mexico in July of 2008; and Whereas, the Mayors of Racine and Zapotlanejo have entered into a preliminary agreement to become Sister Cities. Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Mayor of Racine be authorized to execute a Sister City Covenant with the City of Zapotlanejo when that City's delegation visits Racine of the 4th of July weekend, 2008. The Common Council of the City of Racine do ordain as follows: Part 1: Section 2-455 of the Municipal Code of the City of Racine is hereby created to read as follows: “Sec. 2-455. Election Officials. The number of election officials in each polling place in the City shall be not less than five (5) inspectors or more than (7). Pursuant to Wis. Stat. sec. 7.30(1), the City of Racine shall allow for the selection of two (2) or more sets of officials to work at different times on election day and permits the Clerk or his/her designee to establish different working hours for different officials assigned at the same polling place. Any inspector shall, when necessary or required by law, perform the duties of or act as Clerk of Election or Ballot Clerk.” Part 2: This ordinance shall take effect upon passage and the day after publication.
