Recommendation of the Committee of the Whole: the Item be referred to Public Works & Services with the recommendation that the Item be received and filed. Recommendation of the Public Works and Services Committee (4-10-07): That requests to change city street names be considered on a case-by-case basis. Further recommends that the following factors be considered in reviewing proposals to change the name of a street: 1. Historical context of existing street and street name. 2. Similarity to existing street names. 3. Continuity of street names. 4. Number of properties involved. 5. Number of property owners. A minimum of 90% of property owners must be in agreement. 6. Number of residents involved. A minimum of 75% of all residents must be in agreement. 7. If the street is to be named in honor of a person, that individual should be someone of national importance who had a profound, positive impact on the country. 8.
